Please note these upcoming changes to our advising schedule.
We will be closed for the following campus holidays, or other in-service department events:
- Tuesday, November 25th: No in-person advising 11:00-12:00pm, and 3:00-5:00pm. No Zoom from 2:00-3:00pm.
- Wednesday-Friday, November 26th-28th - Thanksgiving Holiday
- December 22nd-January 1st - Christmas/New Year's Holiday Break

Dan Van Dorn, M.Ed.
Dan is the career Academic Advisor & Assistant in Political Science. He previously served as an Administrative Support Coordinator at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Program Manager at Dartmouth College. This follows a 25-year career in cartography. He enjoys swimming, hiking, cycling, skiing, paddling, travel, and live music. He is exceedingly proud of his 2 adult children.
Isabella Killion
Isabella is a fourth-year Political Science and History of Public Policy and Law double major with a concentration in American politics. She previously served as a vice president of Phi Alpha Delta and currently serves as a director. After graduating, she plans on attending law school with an interest in family and education law. During her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, reading, spending time with her friends, snowboarding, and traveling.
Byron Chan
Byron Chan is a fourth year majoring in political science with a concentration in international relations and a minor in Chinese from the Bay Area. He is the president of the UCSB Model United Nations and a Voter Registration Director for Gauchos Vote Coalition. After graduation he hopes to catch up on his sleep and maybe go to law school. In his free time he enjoys trying viral Instagram cooking recipes and watching the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Lakers.
