Bio: Gabriella R. Montinola is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Davis. Her current research focuses on the impact of foreign aid and remittances on policy in developing countries. Recently, she has begun to explore the relationship of foreign aid and public opinion in recipient and donor countries. She will be presenting a project exploring the effects of international criticism and the threat of aid sanctions due to human rights violations on public opinion in three Asian countries: Myanmar, Nepal and Indonesia. Gabriella has also written on the political economy of governance across the developing world, and on the Philippines in particular. Her research is published in journals, such as the British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Politics, and Studies for Comparative International Development, as well as edited volumes published by Cambridge University Press and the Russell Sage Foundation.
