Bio:

Alison Sir is a fourth-year political science major from San Jose, California. Through her learning as a political science major and her involvement on campus, she has been lucky to connect her passion for social justice to the implementation of real-life change. In her sophomore year, she was exposed to many different student needs and perspectives as an orientation leader for new students, which pushed her to serve on Associated Students Senate as an off-campus senator to find real solutions to student issues. She then served as VP of Finance on the Panhellenic Board during her junior year, while also spearheading a project to alleviate food insecurity across the UCSB community by working to establish off-campus vending machines providing one free meal a day to every student. Now, as Associated Students President, she is not only seeing through her previous projects, but is also currently working to find a permanent location for the AS Bike Shop due to the high demand from UCSB’s large biking community. This year, she also looks forward to expanding resources for students’ basic needs such as expanding the AS Food Bank center and working with student groups.
