يجري هذا المشروع بقيادة البروفيسورة ناراياني لاسالا بلانكو (جامعة كاليفورنيا) والدكتورة شاهانا شاتاراج (جامعة شيفيلد)، بالتعاون مع البروفيسورة لورا موراليس (جامعة ليستر)، والبروفيسورة إليزابيث بلدينغ، والبروفيسورة هيذر ستول وسارة النوري (جامعة كاليفورنيا).درست البروفيسورة لاسالا بلانكو المرحلة الابتدائية في مدرسة كوليجيو مدريد في مكسيكو سيتي، لتي أسسها اللاجئون الإسبان ومنذ ذلك الوقت بقيت شاكرة وذاكرة للمساهمات التي يمكن أن يقدمها اللاجئون للمجتمعات والبلدان المضيف. ثما حصلت على الدكتوراه من جامعة كولومبيا في العلوم السياسية واختصت في بحوث الرأي العام. وقد ساهمت لاسالا بلانكو في مشاريع بحثية مماثلة للرأي مع مؤسسة روبن هود الخاصة ومع وكالات دولية (اليونيسيف) المعنية بالصحة العامة للسكان والنازحين الذين يصعب الوصول إليه

This project is led by Professor Narayani Lasala-Blanco (University of California) and Dr. Shahana Chattaraj (University of Sheffield), in collaboration with Professor Laura Morales (University of Leicester), Professor Elizabeth Belding, Professor Heather Stoll and Sarah Alnoure (University of California).
Professor Lasala-Blanco attended Elementary school at Colegio Madrid in Mexico City, founded by Spanish Refugees and has since remained attuned to the contributions refugees are able to make to host societies and countries. She obtained her PhD at Columbia University in Political Science and specializes in public opinion research. Lasala-Blanco has contributed to similar opinion research projects with private (Robin Hood Foundation) and international agencies (UNICEF) concerned with the well-being of hard-to-reach and displaced populations.
The project aims to help both researchers and decision-makers identify the factors that influence the integration of refugees from non-European countries into host European societies and how refugees can revitalize these cities.
Additionally, this project has trained undergraduate students and graduate Syrian students living in Europe and in the United States in basic training in data gathering, survey methodology, and research design.
This project has received funding primarily from the National Science Foundation, the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship of the University of Oxford, the UCSB Academic Senate, and the Institute for Social Behavioral, and Economic Research of UCSB.
The plaque reads “In memory of all Spanish immigrants that arrived to Mexico through this port, in search of a better future. With their work, they contributed to the greatness of this generous and hospitable Mexican Nation” Veracruz 2009. This is a statue in the port of Veracruz to honor the contributions of Spanish refugees arrived in Mexico in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War who disembarked in this port. Professor Lasala was born in this port city.
