NY Times Publishes Op-Ed by Professor Leah Stokes

"There is a clear climate signature in the disaster in Santa Barbara," writes Professor Stokes. "We know that climate change is making California’s extreme rainfall events more frequent. We know it’s worsening our fires. We know that it contributed substantially to the latest drought." Dr. Stokes succinctly frames this and other recent disasters with the hope for community action to take up the fight for climate change policy. Read her timely NY Times Op-Ed piece to see exactly how she connects the dots.

Leah Stokes is Assistant Professor of Political Science at UCSB. Her research primarily examines public policy, public opinion and political behavior in North America, with a focus on energy and the environment.
