Research Assistant Opportunity for Undergraduate Students

Professor Narayani Lasala-Blanco is looking for two students to work as research assistants on a study of the opinions of Democrats and Republicans. The project will examine differences between Democrats' and Republicans' positions across seven policy areas and how these opinions differ by ethnicity, race, and age. This is a joint project with Professor Robert Shapiro of Columbia University

Basic computer experience, patience, and attention to detail are required. Some of the work will require creating and manipulating tables in Excel, as well as producing graphs summarizing changes in opinion across time. Interest in public opinion and survey data are a plus. >This project is particularly helpful for students looking to gain research experience prior to applying for graduate programs or research-oriented jobs.

Pay is $10 per hour. Training will be provided.

Preference will be given to students available immediately for the Winter 2016 quarter and who are available to work 10 hours a week during the month of January.

Interested students should email Shannon Schumacher <shannonschumacher@umail.ucsb.edu> before December 20th. Please include a brief statement of why you are interested in participating, as well as your availability during the Winter quarter.
