Job Opening in the Politics of Identity

The University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Political Science seeks a scholar who focuses on the politics of identity for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2015. The successful candidate should be a scholar who studies topics such as the ways in which race, ethnicity, class, religion, or other identity-relevant factors shape political beliefs, collective action, institutions, or policies; or who explores the meaning and significance of identity in politics.

Applicants should have completed the Ph.D. by the appointment date.  The position is open with respect to field.  We welcome applicants from American politics, comparative politics, political theory, and international politics.  The politics of identity focus reflects a core interest of the Department and a major interdisciplinary emphasis across the UCSB campus.  The successful candidate’s research should be theoretically informed and must demonstrate mastery of appropriate research methods.

The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
