Professor Manoutchehr M. Eskandari-Qajar, who received his Ph.D. in Political Science from UCSB in 1984, was named the 2013 California Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). 

Dr. Eskandari is the Chair of the Political Science and Economics Department and the Director of Middle East Studies at Santa Barbara City College, where he has worked since 1992.
