The California Institute for Water Resources has awarded a grant to Professor Leah Stokes for a study of water policy and conservation in response to the drought in California.  Her project will compare conservation levels across water districts and how various factors relate to conservation outcomes.

Professor Narayani Lasala-Blanco is leading a group of researchers who are seeking to understand how different policies and local contexts affect the integration process of Syrian refugees.  Professor Lasala-Blanco has been awarded a National Science Foundation RAPID grant to continue her research.

Professor Pei-te Lien's new co-authored book Contested Transformation provides the first comprehensive survey of people of color elected to public office. Jim Logan interviewed Professor Lien for a story on UCSB's Current.

Professor Cynthia Kaplan has been awarded the 80th Anniversary Medal from Al Farabi Kazakhstan National University for service to the university. The award was granted by the Chancellor of Al Farabi KazNU and will be presented by Professor Gulnar Nasimova (Chair, Department of Political Science, Al Farabi KazNU) in January.

Following President-Elect Donald Tump's phone conversation with Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen, Professor Pei-te Lien was interviewed by KPCC and what it might mean for future U.S. relations with China and Taiwan.

Undergraduate student, Aaron Barruga, published an article on "There actually is a case to be made for giving police training in military tactics" in Foreign Policy.

Professor John Woolley was interviewed on how President Obama's digital records and presence during his presidency will be archived once his second term is over.

Professor Sarah Anderson, Political Science Affiliate (Bren School), is the American Political Science Association's member of the month. Professor Anderson specializes in Environmental Politics and serves as the chair of the Science, Technology, and Environmental Politics section of APSA.
