With his family accompanying him, Dr. Robert Wilder (BA '82, MA' 88, Ph.D. '91), is pictured
(far right) ringing the bell on the American Stock Exchange to launch his newest global clean energy
investment fund. Wilder, CEO of Wildershares was recently
profiled in the Spring issue of the UCSB Almuni Association's magazine, Coastlines.
In that article, he discusses at great length how his interest in environmental issues was stimulated
by environmental historian and Professor Rod Nash. Dr. Wilder also credits current, emeritus, and
former Politcal Science faculty, including John Woolley, Dean Mann, Herman Pritchett, Stan Anderson,
Biliana Cicin-Sain, and Robert Knecht, for supporting the interdisciplinary nature of his studies at UCSB.
Dr wilder notes: "My work now in global environmental finance, and in practical solutions to climate change
grew out of my graduate work in Poli Sci at UCSB, and so I like noting that and showing ways that a
PoliSci education can be useful."
In addition to his work in global international finance, Dr. Wilder also teaches part-time in
environmental policy at UCSD.
