John Peterson (MA '87) Assumes New Post at University of Edinburgh

John Peterson, who received his MA in Political Science from UCSB in 1987 and his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics, has been appointed Professor and Chair of the Deparmtent of International Politics at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Previously, he was on the faculty of Glasgow University. Following a tradition in many European Universities, he will give an inaugural address on October 10, 2006 on the topic: "U.S. Democrats = the True Europeans? Public Opinion and Foreign Policy."

Professor Peterson has published extensively on topics related to European-American relations and the European Union's external policy. His recent publications include The Institutions of the European Union (Oxford University Press, 2006) and a revised edition of Europe and America: Partners and Rivals in International Relations (Roman and Littlefield, 2007).
