Lorraine McDonnell Elected President of AERA

Lorraine McDonnell, Professor of Political Science, has been elected the next President of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She will serve as President Elect until April 1, 2008, when she will be officially installed as President. Professor McDonnell has previously served on the executive committee of AERA and has chaired AERA's government relations committee.

The primary goal of (AERA), founded in 1916, is advancing educational research and its practical application. It includes 25,000 members in a wide range of professions and academic disciplines, including education, psychology, statistics, sociology, history, economics, philosophy, anthropology, and political science.
