Marisela Marquez, Ph.D. '02, is new Executive Director of Associated Students

Dr. Marisela Marquez has been selected the new Executive Director of UCSB Associated Students. In that capacity, she will share oversee an annual budget of more than $3.2 million, manage the Associated Students' many employees, and handle its legal and advisory functions.

Dr. Marquez comes to this position after several years as co-director of the UCSB Center for Faculty Outreach. She has a long history of community outreach and service. She is currently a member of the county Human Relations Commission and president of La Casa de la Raza, a latino cultural center.

In his announcement of her appointment, Vice Chancellor of Student Services Michael D. Young describes her as "an experienced, respected, and deeply committed professional who will provide outstanding leadership for Associated Students."
