Cynthia Kaplan Awarded Fulbright Scholarship

Professor Cynthia Kaplan has been selected by the J. William Fulbright Scholarship Board to receive a Fulbright Scholarship to Estonia for the fall quarter, 2005. She will use her scholarship to spend four months visiting the department of political science at Tartu University, Estonia, where she will continue her research project exploring ethnic identity in Estonia, Russia, and Tatarstan. She will also lecture on contemporary Russian politics.

Fulbright scholarships were authorized under the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961. Currently, 150 countries participate in the program. The more than 265,000 alumni of the program include professors, judges, journalists, artists, ambassadors, and heads of state. Thirty-five Fulbright Scholars have received Nobel prizes.
