Lorraine McDonnell Appointed to NAS Advisory Committee

Lorraine McDonnell, Professor, former Chair, and the Political Science Department's expert in public policy, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee for the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education (DBASSE) in the National Academy of Sciences. The role of this Division-- one of six within the National Academies--is to advance the frontiers of the behavioral and social sciences and their application to public policy. Experts convened by the Division apply their knowledge to shape public policy and practice.

Professor McDonnell will be joined on the Advisory Committee by UCSB's Dean of the Division of Social Sciences, Melvin Oliver. The Committee is chaired by Richard Atkinson, President Emeritus of the UC System.
