| Amit Ahuja to Join Faculty in Fall 2008
The Political Science Department announces the appointment of Amit Ahuja as
Assistant Professor of Political Science, concluding a nation-wide search to fill a faculty
position in comparative politics that brought in more than 120 applications.
Mr. Ahuja is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan. He is a specialist in South Asian
politics whose research focuses on the politics of marginalized minorities--those who
have been left out of social, political, and economic progress by virtue of their racial and ethnic
characteristics, as well as their economic and religious status. His dissertation research
specifically focuses on the Dalits (untouchables) of India, and how such groups become politically
mobilized.
