Robert Hinckley Is New Faculty Fellow

Robert Hinckley, UCSB Ph.D. (2005) has been appointed a Faculty Fellow in the Political Science Department for the academic year 2006-2007. The Faculty Fellows Program is a University of California initiative designed to provide new UC Ph.Ds with mentored training and experience in the design and delivery of instruction and research, and to provide high-quality teaching to help accommodate projected large undergraduate enrollment growth.

During the year, Dr. Hinckley will teach classes on methodology, the politics of Russia and its successor states, and a senior seminar on political tolerance and democracy. He will be working on a book manuscript based on his dissertation topic, "Education and the Limits of Political Tolerance: Exploring the Paradoxical Legacy of Soviet Mass Education," and preparing an article entitled "Mapping the Ideological Breadth of Political Tolerance: A Spatial Approach."
