The Spread of Nuclear Weapons: A Debate Renewed

Photo of Waltz and Sagan The fear of nuclear weapons and their consequences has been an international concern for decades. In this special event, Kenneth Waltz and Scott Sagan, co-authors of The Spread of Nuclear Weapons: A Debate, will resume their spirited discussion of a number of issues relating to nuclear deterrence and non-proliferation.

Kenneth Waltz is Ford Professor Emeritus of Political Science at UC Berkeley, and Adjunct Professor of Political Science and Senior Research Scholar at the Saltzman Institute of World Peace Studies, Columbia University.

Scott Sagan is Professor of Political Science and Co-director of the Center for International Security at Stanford University.

This debate is sponsored by the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC), and co-sponsored by the UCSB Center for Cold War Studies, Department of Political Science, Graduate Division, and the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.
