The Electoral College: Should the United States Eliminate Its "Antidemocratic Relic"?
A group of former members of Congress have launched a "Campaign for the National Popular Vote" to
reform the Electoral College by changing election laws in individual states, rather than amending
the U.S. Constitution. In this UCSB Town Forum, Professor of Political Science and
U.S. presidency scholar John Woolley will weigh the various arguments about the Electoral College
that have been offerred by scholars and politicians. His topics will include: How does the Electoral
College distort our democracy? What can we do about it? Are there other "antidemocratic relics"
that all deserve attention?
The UCSB Town Forum is a presentation of the UCSB Affiliates and is designed to bring together
business and other interested persons in meaningful discussion with members of the UCSB faculty on
matters of current interest to the community.
