American Theocracy: The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion,
Oil, and Borrowed Money

The noted American writer and commentator, Kevin Phillips, will discuss his recent best-selling book, American Theocracy: The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money at a public lecture on the UCSB campus. He will also be available to sign copies of the book at that time. Kevin Philips began his career as a political strategist for the Nixon campaign, but eventually left politics to become a columnist. He contributes regularly to National Public Radio and the Los Angeles Times, and has been a political analyst on NOW with Bill Moyers. Over the last two decades, he has become sharply critical of his former party.

This presentation by the Walter H. Capps Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion, and Public Life is co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science and other UCSB departments.
