Comparative Politics

The comparative politics subfield has wide ranging interests that encompass democratization, political institutions, political parties, identity, social mobilization, political communication, and politics of the environment.  Our area specialties include Latin America, East and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe (both Eastern and Western). We are methodologically eclectic, employing both qualitative and quantitative methods in our research, and offering training in comparative methods to supplement  the department’s regular methods sequence.
