Student Conference Presentations
The department has been well represented in 2008 by graduate students attending professional meetings.  Nearly twenty students have presented or chaired panels in the first quarter of 2008 .  (March 27, 2008)
Norris article among top downloads
According to Blackwell Synergy, Andrew Norris's article "Sovereignty, Exception, and Norm," which appeared in March of 2007 in the Journal of Law and Society (34,1) is among the top ten most frequently downloaded articles from the journal's web site. (March 25, 2008)
Alumnus Establishes Endowed Chair in International Security Studies

UC Santa Barbara has received a $600,000 gift from UCSB alumnus Anton Vonk (MA '05) and his wife, Diane Boss, to establish a new endowed chair in political science.
Rauchhaus Receives Teaching Award

Assistant Professor Robert Rauchhaus is one of the recipients of the 2007-2008 Distinguished Teaching Awards from the UCSB Academic Senate.
Three Grad Students Receive Awards for Papers

At a special reception on May 29, 2008, the three winners of the 2008 Manzer-Wesson awards for graduate student papers were announced.  The Committee noted that competition for these awards was keen, as all submissions were exceptionally fine papers.
McDermott to be Fellow at CASBS
Rose McDermott has received a fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford for Academic Year 2008-2009.
Department welcomes new member of the faculty
The department welcomes Amit Ahuja, a scholar of South Asia, who will join the faculty in Fall of 2008 after completing his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Michigan.
M. Kent Jennings receives Miller Award
M. Kent Jennings received the Warren E. Miller Award for Meritorious Service to the Social Sciences from the ICPSR in October of 2007.
